The irregular cut, exaggerated structure, absurd methods of wearing, together with the contrast and combination of different materials, patterns and colors and new, deconstructionist, avant-garde styles. Vivienne Westwood’s classical pieces sought out creative elements from the histories and traditions of France and Britain, combining traditional design elements and the direct mockery of modernism, to create new styles based on traditional seventeenth and eighteenth century clothes, breathing new life into unfashionable chest binders, large-soled high heeled shoes, classical Scottish tartan and turning them into brand new fashion items. Fashion design is a product of contemporary society. Only by looking for opportunities and not blindly following fashion can one develop fearlessness, innovate passion of Vivienne Westwood.

Beautiful things are always moving to see, resplendent clothes always touch a sense of beauty we all have. Only if you look very carefully beyond the golden imagery created by the artist does the visitor discover that these works are in fact combinations of cultural waste. Wayne Warren searches for small parts of daily life, using both garbage and household items as creative materials. These are derived from the waste of human civilization.

After being cast with gold these are inlaid as parts of different sized dresses, handbags, high-heeled shoes and ties. These fragments are an elegy to modern industry, only acceptable after being covered in gold. In this way, Warren silently mocks the consumerism of modern life, because the clothes and jewelry he creates should not really exist.
