Stars have been the focus of human imagination. In this piece, the artist combines natural scenes and electronic images to create a brilliant but blurry virtual star-filled sky. In an era of reproductions, the work provides reflections that look toward the images of a new era. At the same time, this artwork is also a jigsaw puzzle depicting the artist’s inner world - a make-believe construction, deconstructed symbols, an unknown world. Between these segments of memory and ideas is a bridge connecting perception and reality. The artist has said: “I look at the twinkling stars on the screen, just as people raise their heads and stare at the night sky. We look in the mirror and constantly find a deeper and more profound self.”
Special thanks to the Evangelical Covenant Church of Taipei and their response to the work:
For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse (Romans 1:19-20)
