JAMEI CHEN
Can the various visual images that we experience every day be transformed from an abstract to a tangible substance?
I-Ting Hou explores the question posed above through embroidery and photography. The artist sews patterns onto prints of her photography works, and the repetitive nature of this process physically imprints that single moment from her memory onto the photos. By combining two very different senses—sight and touch—Hou creates a whole new kind of experience and translates it into her work. Through these everyday practices, she has invented something different from her ordinary daily routine.
Designer Jamei Chen, the founder of the brand, recognizes that outlining each unique body with simple contours is one of fashion’s greatest challenges. The store opened in 1999, and has since been the site at which frequent customers and good friends create many wonderful memories.
