池田朗子的作品在娟秀的氣質中帶有立體書的趣味,她以極細膩的雕刻手藝裁切,讓照片、雜誌中的人、動物、建築等等,都像有了生命一般凸顯於平面,不僅打破平面/立體的分野,一般我們觀看平面攝影時,腦中自動轉換透視景深的制約機制也受到了挑戰,巧手創造令人玩味再三的微觀景致,彷彿畫出另一條地平線。

喜歡說故事的池田,這次特別為粉樂町民宅展覽場域延伸創作自2000年以來持續不輟的their site/your sight系列:時間凝結在打包收拾的這一刻,屋主並不在場,但件件舊物是生活的痕跡、幀幀照片是回憶的片段;整理到一半的紙箱是新生活的開始、新旅程的起點,但紙箱裝載不了所有的曾經,無法透過言語分享的珍貴,只能小心翼翼地收藏在心中,透過看似合理的場景,將過往的生活片段在同一水平線上無垠開展。


Inspired by pop-up books, Akiko Ikeda displays objects that are cut out from snapshots and magazines, in intriguing, panoramic surroundings. Ranging from people, animals, vehicles, and buildings, the figures seem as if they have been transported into another world. The emphasis on scale differences is apparent as the objects are suddenly shifted, originally flat in two-dimensional photos but then standing as three-dimensional cutouts. Ikeda’s works lets the audience realize how their perceptions of scale and perspective are unconsciously controlled in a two-dimensional world.

For this year’s Very Fun Park, Ikeda creates an installation unique to the House. The audience is invited to walk into a room where they see the traces of the absent owner, who seems to be packing for a move to somewhere new. Objects worn by time are juxtaposed with photos filled with memories, their stories waiting to be discovered…
