In February this year, the Legislative Yuan passed the Law for the Development of the Cultural and Creative Industries; In mid September, NT$10 billion will be allocated from the budget of the National Development Fund for the development of the cultural and creative industry. From legislation to funding, the public administration clearly announce the arrival of the next core industry and the coming of the age of culture and creativity. Along with the development of aesthetic economy, "aesthetic insight" will become a competitive advantage in the 21st Century.
Fubon Art Foundation has been advocating the concept of "art in life, life in art." Very Fun Park - Taipei East Side Contemporary Art Festival has been an action of the foundation organized to promote "wall-less art" since 2001. Over the years, the event has created collective memories and unique aesthetics experiences for the east side of the city. Tim Brown, CEO of design company IDEO, thinks that spaces of standard specifications will only produce ideas of standard specifications. Fubon Art Foundation's "living-space interception" model encourages the audiences to explore the map of aesthetics with an adventurous heart, which expands the "specifications" of imagination beyond the limitations of space and turns the east side of the city into a space filled with creativity. The foundation's commitment to become involved in community development brings actions to raise civic awareness of aesthetics and development of cultural values.
Roberto Verganti, Italian scholar of innovative management, thinks that culture is a corporation's business model and attitude and the core technology, as well as value, of cultural and creative management. In the era of aesthetic economy, what we really need is participation in and respect for culture and arts.
Although National Cheng Chi University does not have a school of arts, Fubon Art Foundation still accepted our invitation to bring Very Fun Park from the bustle east side of the city onto the campus. Through exhibition guides, volunteer training and a series of promotional activities, the foundation created an innovative corporate-campus alliance. With our allied mission and enthusiasm for art education, we will continue to advocate campus/community aesthetics education and human resource development and open the future of education through arts and creativity.
