Artist Yu Wen-Fu displayed creations for two consecutive years at the same location of the 2008~2009 Very Fun Park, the Evangelical Covenant Church of Taipei. In 2008, he was inspired to create the work “Omnipresent.” The story continued in 2009, where he extended his concept in the church in order to influence the perception of individual opinions about the church, or more precisely, the relationship between people and God. Through the use of a pneumatically operated humanoid light and sounding device, the artist expresses a kind of “Seemingly wanting to see (or decrypt) one’s own circumstances.”

When creating the artwork, the artist was touring Europe and was stationed in Paris; he admired sculptures in the European churches. In his mind, he remembered that Rodin once said “Consciousness, symbolism, they are omnipresent, the expression of the body and the face will reveal the state of his soul.

”Like Rodin, Yu Wen-Fu says:
“Before you came
I was physically weak
Ah!!

Decryptor, please touch me!
Open my inner secrets
Encourage me
To re-sculpt the soul T
o see myself!”
